Nothing is sacred

Apparently conservative radio host Michael Savage played the Dead Kennedy's song California Uber Alles in "honor" of Ted Kennedy. Before we try to wrap our head around Savage's explanation, let us just have a moment of silence for a Dead Kennedys song being played on Conservative radio.

"Where has God gone?" he cried. "I shall tell you. We have killed him - you and I. We are his murderers. - Nietzsche

Actually digging into the why and how this travesty happened baffles the mind of any sane man:
Later, Savage played the Dead Kennedys song "California Über Alles" after stating: "The poor guy's been suffering for years, you know? Unfairly he's been accused of alcoholism, but we see now that it was something much more deep-seated. And so, to cut this out in some respect for Ted Kennedy, here's a tune coming at you from the Dead Kennedys. Go ahead and play it, please."

After reading from the lyrics of "California Über Alles," Savage said, "No gloating today, no laughter, all serious. You don't joke about a man's cancer. I do it, but I won't do it today; it's something I will not do." At one point in the program, he told a caller, "You know I'm playing the Dead Kennedys not to mock Ted Kennedy. It's just appropriate, that's all."
* * *
Savage subsequently aired a clip of Kennedy singing "Ay Jalisco No Te Rajes" before he asserted, "This is running America. No wonder [Iranian President Mahmoud] Ahmadinejad's racing ahead with a nuclear weapon. He's afraid of these old men? He's afraid of these men who don't know what they're talking about? They don't know what they're talking about. No wonder Al Gore can receive a prize -- a Nobel Prize for something that doesn't exist. No wonder. Nobody knows what's going on." Savage added, "Either they're senile, or they're bought out, or they're corrupt, or they're crazy, or they're on medication. And we the people are sitting here saying, 'The king has no clothes,' and the king says, 'Off with your head.' Play 'California Über Alles' by the Dead Kennedys for me. I'm not going to get too worked up right now -- lunch is coming up for me anyway."
I guess it's kind of funny hearing Savage accuse someone else of being corrupt or crazy.

Granted, it's bad taste to taunt someone diagnosed with brain cancer and existentially wrong for a tool like Savage to abuse a DK classic; but otherwise, the sentiment expressed in the song is not entirely inappropriate although, personally, I would have chosen Holiday in Cambodia to make the point.

So you been to school
For a year or two
And you know you've seen it all
In daddy's car
Thinkin' you'll go far
Back east your type don't crawl

Play ethnicky jazz
To parade your snazz
On your five grand stereo
Braggin' that you know
How the niggers feel cold
And the slums got so much soul

Times have changed and the targets shifted, but the sentiment remains true.

CÜA is the standard anti-Democratic (Party) "big government" song...but his explanation for playing the song really has nothing to do with that.

I think when you're someone like Michael Savage, you have to be careful pointing the Dead Kennedys gun at anyone, lest the next bullet in the chamber has your name on it. /ominous

I don't hope that people get brain tumors, obviously, but I think Kennedy was long due to leave office. I am not a big fan of career politicians, and that's one of the appeals of Obama. After Hillary has Obama assassinated, he would have had less than 20 years of service time. That's unheard of these days, especially in presidential candidates.
